The Soniquete App is a comprehensive tool designed to assist dancers and guitarists in rehearsing their choreography and guitar falsetas, specifically within the realm of Flamenco. The app is developed by Jerónimo Utrilla, a notable figure with extensive experience as a professor at prestigious Flamenco festivals worldwide, including the Jerez Festival and the Bienal de Sevilla. Utrilla has also contributed significantly to Flamenco education through his methodical video DVDs, "Learn and Practice the Palmas" and "Palmas por Palos 1 and 2."
What sets the Soniquete App apart from traditional metronomes is its programmable features tailored for Flamenco music. It provides an authentic sound experience with claps recorded in a studio, enhancing the practice experience for users. The app offers a unique combination of a special Flamenco metronome with accents, along with a conventional metronome, integrating innovative features such as remates (finishing flourishes) and subidas (speed increases), marking a significant advancement in the market for Flamenco applications.
Users can customize their practice sessions through four primary options:
- Utilize it as a conventional metronome.
- Employ it as a Flamenco metronome by selecting any palo (style) and its tempo, complete with continuous sound until desired.
- Program specific measures in any palo with an accompanying remate, choosing between clapping or metronome sounds with accents.
- Set up a subida de escobilla by determining the number of slow measures, the duration for speed increase, and fast measures to culminate in a remate. Users can also select their preferred clapping pattern for both slow and fast measures.
In addition to these features, except for Sevillanas where claps play continuously throughout the track, the app allows for traditional counting methods employed in various Flamenco dance schools. This includes starting from either beat 7 or 8 or consistently from beat 1. The app visually displays the number of beats per measure and the total measures until a stop command is given, including details of slow measures, increases, and fast measures when scheduling a subida.
The Soniquete App encompasses 18 different palos (styles) along with four variations of bulerías:
